M Ship Receives $2M Congressional Funding for Development of Safer Vessels for Special Operations Forces
SAN DIEGO, CALIF. — Special Operations Forces operating combat craft will benefit from new technology being developed by M Ship Co., LLC, the maritime research and design firm that developed M-hull technology and built the revolutionary Stiletto ship.
SAN DIEGO, CALIF. - The Pentagon’s high-speed, shallow-draft “Stiletto” ship, designed and built by M Ship Co., LLC, completed a successful 6,000 nautical-mile deployment on a drug interdiction and apprehension mission in the waters off Colombia, the Bahamas and the Florida Straits. The deployment was capped off by a dramatic, high-speed chase of a “go-fast” boat in shallow waters near the Florida coast that resulted in the apprehension of three suspected smugglers.

SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA - M Ship Co. today (May 9, 2006) announced the U.S. Navy’s Office of Naval Research has awarded the firm a $750,000 contract, including options, to validate the potential of the innovative M-hull technology.
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA - Following a better-than-expected sea trial, the Pentagon’s Office of Force Transformation (OFT) has ordered additional equipment for the M80 Stiletto so the experimental vessel can participate in special forces training exercises beginning this month.
M Ship Co. has been awarded a $6 million contract to build the M80 Stiletto, an advanced technology demonstration craft. It will be used by the Department of Defense to validate high speed, smooth ride quality and stealth characteristics of the company’s patented M-hull design and explore the scalability of dynamic lift technology. The lightweight carbon fiber composite craft will demonstrate special operation capabilities by launching and retrieving an 11-meter RIB, a 36-foot auxiliary craft for Navy Special Forces. It also will launch and operate unmanned vehicles. With a length of 80 feet and a width of 40 feet, the M80 Stiletto will provide accommodations for 15 persons and a large open area for installation of alternative weapon systems.
Because of an exciting period of growth for M Ship Co., the company has relocated from its 1,000 square-foot office in the First National Bank building in downtown San Diego, CA, into Suite 2125, a 3,031 square-foot office in the same building. The company also has nearly doubled its number of employees, specifically to address the needs of two recently awarded contracts.
