Because of an exciting period of growth for M Ship Co., the company has relocated from its 1,000 square-foot office in the First National Bank building in downtown San Diego, CA, into Suite 2125, a 3,031 square-foot office in the same building. The company also has nearly doubled its number of employees, specifically to address the needs of two recently awarded contracts.
One project is a $6 million contract to build the M80 Stiletto, an advanced technology demonstration craft. It will be used by the Department of Defense’s Office of Force Transformation to validate high speed, smooth ride quality and stealth characteristics of the company’s patented M-hull design and explore the scalability of dynamic lift technology.
The other project is a Phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) award to develop and evaluate the M-hull design for future U.S. Navy ships. M Ship Co. will use Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tools for evaluating the performance of the M-hull.
M Ship Co. is a privately financed research and design firm formed to develop the innovative M-hull technology, which is protected by six national and international patents. The M-hull, unlike anything seen before, evolved from a challenge to solve the serious problem of wave erosion to the ancient buildings of Venice, Italy. The resulting low-wake technology has since found other applications worldwide..
